Oriental Medicine
Eastern medicine, also known as Oriental or Asian
medicine, comprises mainly health systems and traditional practices from India,
China, Japan, Korea, and Tibet. In addition, there are traditional medical
systems in most of the Asia–Pacific region including Myanmar, Thailand,
Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. Ayurveda and Chinese medicine
remain the largest systems in the East. Other traditional medical practices
from this region include Japanese Kampo, Arabic Unani, Tamil Siddha, and
Tibetan Sowa Rigpa. Acupuncture is a specialized therapeutic technique
predominantly practiced in TCM. Yoga remains a stand-alone knowledge system
from India that focuses on health of mind and body, using relaxation,
meditation, mindfulness, and consciousness techniques.
