Austrian physician, coined the term "pharmacognosy" in 1811, and Crr.
Anotheus Seydler coined it in 1815 in his work Analecta Pharmacognostica.
Originally, the term "pharmacognosy" was used to describe the
discipline of medical or commodity sciences that deals with pharmaceuticals in
their raw, or unprepared, form during the nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries.
